Boys' 1st XV v Girls' 1st XI go head to head in annual hockey match

PUBLISHED 01 April 2022

The much-awaited and anticipated annual Boys' 1st XV v Girls' 1st XI hockey match took place on Wednesday.

The boys were confident they were going to be victorious on this occasion. However, the girls dictated play throughout the match having numerous attacking corners and goal-scoring opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net.

The boys defended brilliantly with their superior pace and strength thwarting the girls' attacks. The game was destined to end as a draw - and the winner was going to be decided on a penalty shoot-out which ended 3-3. Sudden death flicks next!

The girls were first to go and hoped they could put the pressure on the boys by scoring, but a superb save by Nathan put the boys in the driving seat. Up stepped Toby, in the knowledge that if he scored, the boys were going to take the victory. He calmly and confidently slotted the ball into the goal, and the boys' celebrations of victory began.

A fantastic game of hockey, with most of the school students cheering the teams, in a highly competitive but fun event.

Congratulations to the boys, although we've every confidence the girls will come back strong next year!
