As another trading window soon draws to a close the Tycoons of Year 12 at AKS have enjoyed yet another superb 6 weeks of trading. The national leader board tells its own story

The top 4 places (as of 9th December) are all occupied by our four Tycoon groups.

Candle Cubes

This team have done some great trading online with a fine digital marketing campaign and use of social media. As You can see via the link, a unique design and mixture of scents.

Build a Bauble

A very hardworking group who have been keen to trade at several events and have held some successful workshops in the prep school. This group have developed a good range by listening to potential customers and test marketing new products

Just New friends

An ambitious group that formed a social enterprise, tested, organised, and delivered a marvellous and first-ever family games night at AKS. Their substantial profits will go to fund many games afternoons with fancy afternoon teas, for a favourite local charity Just Good Friends. Moreover, this group have been featured in the Peter Jones Foundation partners Christmas newsletter. Even more exciting was their retweet by the foundation itself!

Extravagant Engravings

As of writing clear leaders in terms of profit with a remarkable £1220+. This team have gained some lucrative corporate orders for their hand and laser engraved decorations and coasters. They have fulfilled personalised wooden labels for a hamper company – I imagine these to be rather fancy hampers.

The students have experienced what it is like to run their own business, procurement, production promotion, digital marketing, tenacity when sales have been slow. Tenacity when with 15 minutes to go before the start of the games night Mr Smyth was the only paying customer. I have also seen them grow in confidence when talking to the public and making the sale – a privilege to see the students get so much out of the competition.

The other charities the groups are supporting are Brian and Trinity Hospice and Alzheimer’s Association.

If you are at the School Christmas Fair on Saturday 11th December do pay them a visit, talk to the teams, and perhaps make a purchase.
