Year 3 art inspired by Gustav Klimt

PUBLISHED 14 October 2021

Pupils in Year 3 have been learning about Gustav Klimt. They discovered how Klimt's father was a gold engraver, a colour that the artist loved and used in many of his paintings.

They also saw how Klimt's portraits were almost completely dominated by patterns in shades of yellow, orange, reds, and browns, not forgetting his favourite colour gold!

The children posed in their own clothes for a photograph.  Once traced the children painted the clothes in shades Klimt would have approved of and then added pattern over the top. The face and hands were then cut out and stuck on top of the painting and finally the figures stuck on a gold background.

Well done Year 3 - you produced some superb work.
