Nursery

Welcome to AKS Nursery

Ages 0–4, with a nurturing start in Lytham St Annes for families across the Fylde Coast and Preston area.

AKS Nursery provides a supportive early years environment for children from birth to four and is open year-round. The setting is designed to help children feel safe, settled, and ready to learn through play and early development experiences.

Children are grouped across four age-specific classes: Ducklings, Bees, Ladybirds, and Pre-School. Each child is supported by a dedicated Key Person and follows a curriculum tailored to personal, emotional, and social development. Early skills in reading, writing, and numbers are introduced and supported through age-appropriate activities, alongside specialist lessons in Spanish, music, and dance.

Physical development is supported through specialist sport lessons and the use of outdoor spaces. Nursery life is enriched through trips and visiting specialists, with healthy meals provided. Transition into AKS Reception is supported through regular familiarisation visits.

We know that choosing the right nursery is one of the earliest and most important decisions that you will make for your child. To find out more, please read our recent ISI reports and local offer document.

What age can my child start?

AKS Nursery welcomes children 0-4 and offers a nurturing start before they move onto Prep School. Discover our different year groups for each age, from Ducklings, to Toddlers, and Pre-School. For the right starting point and to discuss availability, please contact the Admissions team.

How do I apply for a Nursery place?

The best first step is to arrange a visit so you can meet the team and see the Nursery in action. Our Admissions team can guide you through the application process and next steps.

Can I visit the Nursery before applying?

Yes. Families are encouraged to visit. A visit is the best way to understand our setting, ask questions, and see what a typical day looks like. You can book a visit through Admissions.

How does the settling-in process work?

We want every child to feel safe and confident in their new environment. Settling in is supported gradually, with close communication between staff and parents to help each child adjust at their own pace.

What does a typical day in Nursery include?

Days are built around learning through play, language and early communication, and developing confidence and independence. Children take part in a mix of structured activities and free play, with plenty of opportunities to learn through exploration. Our outdoor areas have shelter from all the elements to ensure that outdoor learning is a regular part of nursery life, and our purpose-built early years outdoor play area ensures that all children can learn and develop in a safe and secure environment.

How does Nursery transition into Prep School?

Nursery is part of the wider AKS journey. As children approach the move into Prep, the transition is supported carefully so they feel familiar with the setting and confident in the next stage. Parents and children are invited to transition workshop sessions held within the reception classroom, to allow the children to get used to the Prep school environment.
