Two and Three Year olds - Bees and Ladybirds classes
We provide the highest standard of education and care for your child. We recognise the importance of an effective partnership between you and the Nursery Staff, and we will keep you well informed of your child's progress through the use of the Tapestry parent communication tool.
On starting their adventure at AKS, your child will be allocated a Nursery Key Person; who has overall responsibility for your child's daily well-being. Communication between you and your child's Key Person is crucial and you will be given verbal feedback on a daily basis. Parents are invited to keep track of their children's progress through the daily communication, weekly updates on Tapestry, termly parents evenings and biannual reports.
In keeping with our commitment to Individual Pathways, we are proud of the individual care and attention we give to every child in our care. This is not only with regard to their academic progress but relates to exploring their interests and how best to engage and challenge them to promote the next stage of learning.
In order to deliver on our promise of Academic Ambition for every child, we track progress against the Early Years Foundation Stage framework in order to plan specific activities which will enable children to achieve, and often go beyond age-related expectations. This prepares the children for their transition to our pre-school classes. This supplements the weekly specialist French, music and sport lessons that our pre-schoolers receive.
Beyond child-led play and experiential learning, our nursery has close links with the community. This includes Just Good Friends, an inter-generational organisation aimed at increasing social connection. This teaches children about the importance of contributing to the wider community and provides them with a rich source of knowledge and role models when they collaborate for regular events. This is aligned to our school characteristic of Success and Value.
