In a tightly contested hockey match, AKS emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win over Rossall School. Both teams showcased a high level of skill and determination, making it a thrilling encounter from start to finish.
From the outset, Rossall's defence was well-organised, thwarting several early AKS attacks. However, AKS maintained relentless pressure, creating multiple opportunities throughout the game. Their persistence paid off in the second half when they finally broke through Rossall's defence to score the decisive goal.
Rossall pushed hard in the final stages, trying to find an equaliser, but AKS’s defence held firm, supported by excellent goalkeeping that kept their clean sheet intact.
The match was a true test of endurance and teamwork, with both sides giving their all. AKS’s single goal was enough to secure the win in what was a very evenly matched contest.
A great win for AKS, who will look to build on this performance in their upcoming fixtures.
AKS U14 continue to develop as individuals and as a team and again played some great team hockey to continue their winning ways with a superb 5 – 0 victory against Rossall. Star of the show was goal machine Camilla W who scored all five of our goals but the win also required all of the team to contribute with some great defending and good passing hockey. The game started evenly with both teams enjoying possession but Camilla scored after 10 minutes to put our noses infront. We then started to control the ball putting into practice the game plan of keeping possession and we switched play across the back well. Great defending in the middle of the pitch from Lauren M, Victoria H and Emily F and superb attacking play on the right from Annie L , Esme M and Gabby H-S put the Rossall defence under constant pressure. Camilla netted a second before half time with a superb reverse stick hit and when she got her hat-trick goal after the break the win was sealed. Good marking in the circle and tackling along with some good saves from keeper Kathryn S maintained our clean sheet in the second half and two more goals from Camilla saw the final score 5 – 0.
Overall a superb team performance which saw all the team gaining in confidence and demonstrating greater understanding of team tactics to record our best win of the season so far. Players of the match were Emily F and Camilla W.

One of the standout aspects of the performance was the excellent defending from the U13 side. Our defenders showed great composure, often holding off relentless attacks and making crucial tackles to keep the team in the game.
Although the result didn't go our way, the team can be proud of their effort and defensive discipline, which was evident throughout the match. A tough contest, but one that demonstrated the team's fighting spirit and potential for future matches.
The U12a team faced a tough opponent in Preston Hockey Club and lost 2-0, but their performance improved significantly throughout the match. Initially struggling, they ramped up their intensity, creating multiple scoring opportunities as the game progressed.
Despite dominating possession and testing the opposition's goalkeeper in the second half, they couldn't find the final touch needed to convert their chances. The team's growth and determination signal a promising future as they look to build on this performance in upcoming matches.
The AKS U13B squad took to the pitch with determination against the AKS U12B team in a thrilling, end-to-end encounter, with both sides battling fiercely. The U13s were unlucky not to score in the first half, narrowly missing the target just moments before the half-time whistle as the ball skimmed past the far post.
In the second half, the U13s began to find their rhythm, creating more space and playing fluid, connected hockey by linking passes from defense to attack. Their hard work during the week paid off, as the girls made confident tackles and tracked their opponents well. It was especially encouraging to see the team’s improved communication and teamwork throughout the game.
Both goalkeepers put in solid performances, making it tough for either team to find the back of the net. However, the U13s remained patient and persistent, and their efforts were rewarded when they confidently scored the only goal of the match.
A big congratulations to all the players, especially those making their debut—it was a fantastic team effort!
