The past two weeks have seen AKS students achieving outstanding success outside of school across a wide range of sports, with many representing their clubs, counties and even England at the highest levels.
In rugby, Ethan B has been selected for the England U17 Rugby Union training squad and will attend the prestigious Hartpury College development camp. Zac L has been selected for the England U17 Rugby League squad and recently represented England against Scotland, with further fixtures against Wales and France to come this summer. Xavier D also achieved county honours by representing Lancashire U17 Rugby.
There have also been significant achievements in hockey. Alexa and Winnie represented Fylde Hockey Club at the U12 National Finals in London, where the team secured an impressive eighth place finish nationally. Winnie captained the side, while Alexa, currently in Year 6, competed an age group above. Meanwhile, Year 10 pupils Emily F, Lauren M, Isla C and Camilla W represented Lancashire in the U15 Hockey Team, helping the side secure third place in the North West versus North East finals and progress to the National Counties competition in Nottingham later this year.
Fylde Rugby Club’s U13 side, featuring many AKS pupils, were crowned Lancashire Cup winners after an exceptional season which saw them win all eight league games before securing promotion through the play offs.
In football, Toby S in Year 9 helped St Annes FC U14 Emeralds complete a league and cup double, while also being named Player of the Match in the Shield Final victory at Highbury Stadium. Raife and Oliver M in Year 6 also enjoyed the fantastic experience of competing in the Hogan Cup at Bloomfield Road, home of Blackpool FC.
We are also delighted to congratulate Freddie B in Year 11 on signing for Blackpool FC, an exciting milestone in his footballing journey.
Away from team sports, Lauren M achieved her First Degree Tae Kwon Do Black Belt following a demanding grading examination overseen by five World Grandmasters. Her achievement follows years of dedication and national success, including becoming a British Champion and medalling at recent national championships.
Congratulations to all of our pupils across the school on their achievements and recognition at their end of season football, hockey and rugby awards, and on another hugely successful sporting season.
