Monday's Senior School Sports Day was a brilliant celebration of sport, with students giving their all in a day full of competition, encouragement and house spirit.
From the first race to the final field event, the atmosphere was excellent, with students showing great determination and enthusiasm throughout. It was particularly pleasing to see such high levels of participation, with pupils across all year groups representing their houses with pride and supporting one another every step of the way.
Congratulations to Gawthorpe, who successfully retained the Senior School Sports Day Trophy after another impressive team performance.
The standard of competition was exceptionally high, with four AKS records broken during the day:
- Henry S broke the 200m record in 25.13 seconds, beating the previous record of 25.3 seconds set in 2014.
- Charlotte R set a new 300m record of 45.2 seconds, surpassing the previous best of 46.0 seconds from 2014.
- Evarose W-T threw 23.17m in the Discus, breaking the previous record of 21.6m set in 2013.
- Charlie L set a new Javelin record with a throw of 24.6m, beating the previous record of 21.64m, which had only been set last year.
Well done to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a success. From those competing to those cheering from the sidelines, it was a fantastic showcase of the enthusiasm, determination and house spirit that make Sport at AKS so special.
