As we pause this Remembrance season to honour the courage, sacrifice and service of the many men and women who have dedicated their lives to their country, we also take time to remember those members of our own school community whose stories remain an important part of our history.
One such former pupil is Burton Critchley, whose name is proudly commemorated on the School Memorial in the OAKS Hall. His legacy is further honoured through the tribute sundial situated within our school grounds, serving as a lasting reminder of his life, service and sacrifice.
While generations of students have walked the same corridors and shared in the traditions of our school, Burton's story provides a poignant connection to the past and to those who answered the call of duty during times of conflict. His contribution, both as a member of our school community and through his service beyond it, continues to be remembered with great respect.
Memorials such as these not only honour those who served but also encourage us to reflect on the values of courage, selflessness and resilience. They offer an opportunity for current and future generations to learn about the individuals behind the names and to appreciate the sacrifices made in the pursuit of peace and freedom.
As we mark Remembrance, we remember Burton Critchley with pride, gratitude and profound respect. His story remains an enduring part of our school's heritage, and we join with communities across the country in paying tribute to all those who have served and sacrificed.
Lest we forget.
