We are delighted to announce that our Prep School has been awarded White Rose Education Champion School status for Mathematics, recognising our deep commitment to exceptional teaching and learning across the whole school. Having already achieved this prestigious accreditation in Science earlier in the year, we are immensely proud to now be recognised for excellence in Maths as well.
To achieve Champion status, the Prep School had to demonstrate a consistently high standard of mathematical provision. This included showing that problem solving and reasoning are embedded throughout our lessons, that differentiation is used thoughtfully to meet the needs of every learner, and that all pupils experience appropriate stretch and challenge. We also needed to evidence strong mathematical communication, where children are encouraged to articulate, justify and explore their ideas, alongside a mastery driven approach that builds secure understanding and long term confidence.
Mr Avis congratulates every class teacher for the exceptional quality of their working walls, their careful planning, and their commitment to providing pupils with a rich and varied diet of mathematics. This award reflects the dedication, creativity and professionalism seen in every classroom.
Our maths curriculum is strengthened through the use of White Rose Maths as our core mastery spine, supported by two further complementary schemes: Maths No Problem! and Inspire Maths. Together, these create a coherent progression of small steps, offer high quality problem solving and investigative tasks, and provide strong visual models and representations. This combination ensures that all learners experience ambitious, engaging and meaningful mathematics that meets their needs.
We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our pupils. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to discuss, unpick, investigate, reason and enjoy their maths is at the heart of this achievement. Their rich mathematical conversations and growing confidence as young problem solvers make this recognition truly special.
This award celebrates our whole community: our teachers, pupils and families, all working together to champion excellence in mathematics. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and excited for the continued growth of our young mathematicians.
