Nutrition Takes Centre Stage at Thursday Takeover

As part of this week’s Thursday Takeover, the Sports Department welcomed guest speaker Leah Style from Lexington to talk to our Senior and Sixth Form students about nutrition and performance. Leah is a Nutritionist for Lexington Independents, who partner with United Learning schools to deliver high-quality catering across the group.

At AKS Lytham, we work closely with Lexington to make sure our students have access to nutritious, balanced meals that support both learning and wellbeing. Leah’s visit was a valuable opportunity to explore how the right food choices can make a real difference - especially for those involved in sport and physical activity.

During her talk, Leah covered a range of topics, from food groups and their effects on the body to practical advice on how athletes can fuel themselves effectively before and after training or competition. Students were engaged throughout, asking thoughtful questions and gaining a better understanding of how nutrition plays a key role in both performance and everyday health.

The session was a great addition to our Enhanced Performance Pathway (EPP), helping our young athletes develop the knowledge and habits they need to reach their full potential.

A huge thank you to Leah and the team at Lexington for supporting our EPP and Thursday Takeover programmes and sharing such valuable insights with our students.
