New Talent Takes to the Stage at the Teatime Concert

On Wedesday 15th October, the Music Department hosted the first Teatime Concert of the academic year, welcoming families and friends for an evening of live music. A much-loved fixture in the AKS calendar, the Teatime Concerts offer a relaxed platform for students to perform, and this year's drew a record number of performers from across the school.

For many younger pupils, it was their first time on stage, while older students used the opportunity to prepare pieces for GCSE, A Level or instrumental exams.

Mr Brown, Music Teacher, explained:

“The teatime concert is an event in which students from across the school can sign up to perform. Usually it's the first chance for some of the younger performers, and for some of the older performers it is an opportunity for them to either practice grade pieces or things they're getting ready for GCSE and A Level.”

This year has also seen a notable influx of talented musicians in Year 7, who have already made a strong impact within ensembles and rehearsals.

Mr Hodder, Music Co-ordinator, added:
“We've had a large influx of musicians in year 7 who are very talented...They've been a great addition to our ensembles and our music department... This teatime concert is the first major concert of the year, which I'll be comparing for the first time.”
