David grew up in Oldham but moved to the Fylde coast in 2010. From a very young age, he was involved in music competitions and performing, and obtained Grade 8 Distinction in piano at the age of 11. He gained entry into Chetham’s School of Music at the age of 10, where he studied piano with a number of world-renowned tutors for seven years. He then continued his piano tuition at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where he enjoyed much competition success and performing engagements, obtaining his degrees in music and performance, while specialising in works by contemporary American composers.
David is a music examiner for Trinity College London, having travelled the world in his examining duties. He is also an external moderator for Edexcel GCSE and A Level Music. He is a renowned and sought-after piano teacher, accompanist and performer, who began classroom teaching 15 years ago at Arnold School in Blackpool. There, he gained great enjoyment, including the opportunity to participate in numerous public performances, award-winning musicals and international tours.
Outside of music and teaching, David is a devoted father to his son and daughter and has a steadfast passion for animal conservation and sustainability, as well as a lifelong (and occasionally frustrating) devotion to his beloved Manchester United.
David is absolutely delighted to be joining AKS Lytham and is greatly looking forward to being part of creating wonderful musical memories with the amazing staff and talented students.
