AKS Students Celebrate Exceptional GCSE Results

48% of all GCSE grades awarded at 9 to 7

Students at AKS are celebrating another outstanding set of GCSE results this summer, with 48% of all grades achieved at the top 9 to 7 level.

As well as excelling academically, this year’s cohort have contributed richly to school life through leadership, service, performing arts and sporting success. From regional and national competition victories and musical excellence to charitable initiatives, drama productions and Duke of Edinburgh awards, their achievements extend far beyond the classroom.

Student Success Stories

The Class of 2025’s top achievers have combined academic excellence with impressive contributions to school life and there are many individual successes to celebrate

Lilly G achieved 8 Grade 9s, 1 Grade 8 and higher qualification in Further Maths, enriching school life through her leadership, music and backstage creativity in drama.

Headmaster David Harrow said:

“There are a lot of pressures on 16-year-olds nowadays, and the annual announcement of GCSE grades is just one of them. I am thrilled for our Year 11s that they have, once again, thrived in the summer examination season, and especially given everything else that they have embraced over their time at AKS. We cannot avoid the statistics – and, with around half of all of the grades at the top 9 to 7 level, they are great - but to focus on only the numbers is to do a disservice to the whole journey. So, congratulations to everyone for what they have achieved not just today, but every day. I look forward with huge excitement to what is to come for this super group of people.”

Senior Deputy Head Allan McKeown added

“We are absolutely delighted with our students' GCSE results this year. As a cohort that joined the Senior School during the height of the pandemic they had been through a great deal. This resilience is indicative of the individual journey that each of them has been on over the past five years and the progress both academically and personally they have all made in their own way is so satisfying to see. We know that our Sixth Form pathway will provide even greater opportunities to flourish, develop and grow and we wish them well on this next exciting stage in their journey.”

Year 11 students now look ahead to exciting futures, with many choosing to continue their journey into AKS Sixth Form. They are exceptionally well prepared for the challenges and opportunities ahead, carrying with them the values, resilience and ambition that will serve them for years to come.
