Children from KS2 enjoyed a fantastic day of sport and teamwork at the Quad Kids Athletics competition held at Stanley Park. Two mixed teams proudly represented the school, each made up of 10 pupils - 5 boys and 5 girls - from Years 3 and 4, and Years 5 and 6.
All competitors took part in four challenging events that tested their speed, strength, and endurance: the standing long jump, vortex howler throw, a sprint (50m for Years 3/4 and 75m for Years 5/6), and a long-distance run (400m for Years 3/4 and 600m for Years 5/6). The event concluded with an exciting and energetic relay, where teamwork and determination were on full display.
The Year 3 and 4 team performed admirably against strong competition, finishing in an impressive 7th place out of 23 schools. Every member of the team contributed brilliantly, demonstrating resilience, enthusiasm, and a growing confidence in athletics.
For the second year running, the Year 5 and 6 team delivered an outstanding performance, securing 1st place out of 23 schools. Their success was built on consistent effort across all events and excellent teamwork throughout the day. This remarkable achievement means that AKS will once again represent Fylde schools at the Lancashire Finals - the second consecutive year they have earned this honour.
A huge well done to all pupils involved for their commitment, sportsmanship, and determination. It was a fantastic team effort and a proud day for AKS sport.
