Prep pupils enjoyed a series of enriching outdoor learning visits to Fairhaven Lake as part of our Adventure Week, which focused on trying new things both inside and outside the classroom. These visits also linked to Outdoor Classroom Day, celebrating the benefits of taking learning beyond the traditional classroom setting.
At Fairhaven Lake each year group took part in carefully planned activities connected to their curriculum topics, allowing pupils to explore the natural environment, develop practical skills, and engage in hands-on activities. In Key Stage 1, pupils explored seaside and beach-based learning, with Reception focusing on Going to the Seaside, Year 1 taking part in a Seasonal Sensory Walk, and Year 2 engaging in mud dipping, investigating habitats.
Key Stage 2 pupils deepened their understanding through practical, real-world learning. Year 3 became Plant Detectives, while Year 4 completed a Habitat Trail, exploring how animals live and adapt to their environments. Year 5 brought their geography learning to life through Rivers from Source to Mouth. Meanwhile, Year 6 pupils embraced challenge and teamwork through Survival Skills sessions and Adventure Golf and Trail activities, building resilience, collaboration, and independence.
These experiences highlighted the importance of outdoor education in supporting both academic learning and personal development. Pupils demonstrated enthusiasm, curiosity, and excellent behaviour throughout, making the most of opportunities to learn in a different environment. We are incredibly proud of how they represented the school and grateful to all the staff who made this memorable week of outdoor learning and adventure possible.
