Yoga & Art Summer Camp

Yoga and Art Holiday Club - with Sophie Heald. Local yoga teacher specialising in teaching yoga for mental health and wellbeing in schools. 

When:

  • JULY: Mon 7th, Tues 8th, Mon 14th, Tues 15th, Mon 21st, Tues 22nd, Mon 28th & Tues 29th
  • AUGUST: Mon 4th, Tues 5th, Tues 12th, Thurs 14th, Mon 18th, Tues 19th, Tues 26th & Thurs 28th 

Time: 9:00am-3:00pm (limited availability - maximum of 12 per session): 

Year Groups: Reception to Year 6

Yoga and Mindfulness helps children:

  • Recognise and honour all emotions, learning to trust their instincts and build resilience.
  • Teaches breathing techniques that increase energy and decrease anxiety providing effective coping strategies for stress
  • Nurtures self-esteem, confidence and acceptance
  • Increases body awareness as we explore anatomy and benefits of the poses
  • Teaches children mindfulness and relaxation skills
  • Offers a platform for creativity, play and imagination
  • Endorses healthy choices and builds a foundation for lifelong wellbeing
  • It’s non-competitive and honours each child’s unique way of absorbing and integrating information
  • Provides techniques to quieten the mind and sharpen focus and concentration. 
  • Promotes a sense of peace, within and without
  • Creates a sense of balance and regulates the nervous system 
  • Develops strength and flexibility
  • Improves posture, balance, coordination and motor skills 
  • Aids better sleep
  • Encourages a positive mindset and a motivation for self-development 

 The days will be filled with:  

  • Yoga movement 
  • Breath work
  • Relaxation 
  • Creative crafts 
  • Mindful activities 
  • Fun games 

 Please bring:

  • Packed lunch and snacks (nut free school)
  • Water bottle
  • Comfortable clothing suitable for relaxation and yoga
  • Pencils and crayons 
  • A blanket and soft toy for relaxation (if they wish)
