Continuity is one of the reasons parents choose an AKS education.
Throughout their time in the Preparatory School pupils enjoy a range of opportunities to take a glimpse of life in the Senior School. Pupils benefit from specialist teaching, by Senior School teachers, in a range of subjects, and pupils enjoy the opportunity to visit the Senior School to use specialist facilities, for example the Senior Hall for drama productions and KS2 pupils eat in the Senior Dining Hall.
Older pupils are always keen to visit the Preparatory School to work with the younger pupils; listening to readers, as part of their Duke of Edinburgh service; enjoying work experience in anticipation of a career in teaching or helping with sporting clubs and activities. Actors and musicians take any opportunity to perform for younger pupils and our most capable Preparatory School musicians have taken the opportunity to play with the concert band and perform at Senior School events.
Towards the start of Year 6, pupils enjoy a taster day where they become a Year 7 pupil for the day, this is followed by further opportunities to visit the Senior School for lessons and meet with Year 7 tutors.
Many of our Year 6 pupils achieve academic, music and sport scholarships by taking the Entrance Examination at AKS each year. Our pupils graduate from the Preparatory School having had the very best of foundations.
