On 3rd January 2018, Mrs Amanda Ilhan joined AKS Lytham Independent School as the new Head of AKS Nursery and Preparatory School. Amanda has previously taught in Bristol and Cheshire, and worked as a deputy head teacher in Manchester, before being appointed as Head of the British International Junior School of Istanbul eight years ago. Alongside running that successful school, Amanda was an active member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) and led accreditation teams in schools around the world for the Council of International Schools (CIS).
Headmaster, Mike Walton, welcomed Amanda to the school, “We are delighted to have been able to appoint such an experienced head teacher to this role. Amanda’s enthusiasm and vision will help us build on the successes that our Nursery and Preparatory School already enjoy and develop further our global outlook”. Mike himself was previously Principal of a large British international boarding school in Thailand and Chairman of FOBISIA (the Federation of British International Schools in Asia). By developing connections through the Round Square group of schools in 50 different countries, AKS Lytham is already ensuring that all pupils benefit from a truly globally inspired education.
Amanda is looking forward to taking on the leadership of the school and said, “Being part of this forward looking team, focussed on giving pupils the best possible start in life is a privilege. Even after the first week, I can see the potential of the children at the school and look forward to working with the tremendous staff, parents and friends of AKS to help provide the rich and fulfilling education the students all deserve”.
