U15 Boys v Stonyhurst - Stonyhurst 120 off 25 overs

Very tidy spells from Ben 0-10 off 5 and captain Alex 2-12 off 5 and debut bowling from Jeremy 0-14 off 3. Fielding was sharp and an excellent catch from Noah and cat like display from Alex. Then we batted and did not perform at our best.  Mr McIntyre.

U15 Girls v Stonyhurst - AKS 88 def Stonyhurst 81

Many of our girls played their first game of cricket and our focus was on doing our best and enjoying the day. The girls laughed and cheered and enjoyed every moment as they hit lots of runs and restricted the scoring of Stonyhurst when we fielded. We are very proud of their efforts and would love to see girls cricket continue to grow at AKS.  Mr Castellas

U14 Boys v Stonyhurst

AKS U14s played Stonyhurst on a lovely afternoon by the sea. AKS started well with Lord taking 2 wickets in the 3rd over. However, despite AKS's efforts in the field Stonyhurst racked up an impressive 132 off 20 overs. With a big target to reach AKS found themselves under pressure and with 2 wickets down, Hoskisson stepped up to get the run rate ticking over, but despite his best efforts AKS could not find the space in the Stonyhurst field. Well done to Stonyhurst for a well-deserved win, the AKS Batters have much to work on this week as they face Hutton on Tuesday.  Man of the performance goes to Hoskisson for his work at wicket keeper and his intent with the bat.

U14 Girls v Stonyhurst - AKS 61 def by Stonyhurst 64

It was great to see our girls get a chance to showcase their skills against Stonyhurst on a sunny afternoon. The girls were keen to win but also kept a focus on enjoying the occasion. We fielded first and showed some excellent skills to restrict the scoring of the opposition. Many of our girls were playing their first ever cricket fixture and it was great to see them 'having a go'. When batting we ran well between the wickets and were always looking to score. The girls enjoyed the experience and will learn from the day. A gutsy effort from our girls who had a tremendous amount of fun.

U13 Boys v Stonyhurst
On Saturday the AKS U13 Cricket XI played St. Mary’s Hall at Stonyhurst School. Despite the recent heavy rain and the poor weather forecast the wicket was in decent shape and AKS elected to field first. The game started well for AKS with tight bowling and early wicket for Sammy Curran. At the end of the eleventh over it looked like a combination of sharp fielding and consistent bowling would limit SMH’s total. Unfortunately, SHM’s middle order batsmen were given long enough to play themselves in and accelerated the run rate. SHM finished their innings 3 wickets for 115. This was a challenging total for AKS, but the opening batsmen applied themselves and kept neck and neck for the first half of the innings. AKS needed to accelerate the run rate and as a result started to lose wickets. The team batted sensibly but were unable to chase down SHM’s impressive total. SHM won by 4 wickets.  Mr Riding

U12A Boys v Kirkham GS - AKS 7/86 from 20 drew KGS 3/30 from 10
In a rain-affected match, our team batted with no fear and batted very positively to post an excellent total. Our bowlers were on target and our fielders were keen. Well done to all - particularly to our boys playing their first ever game of cricket!  Mr Walmsley

U12B Boys v Kirkham GS
Despite tough conditions, great to see our youngsters get their first game of hardball cricket. The match was incomplete and we will play QEGS again next Friday in a fresh fixture.  Mr Walmsley

U12A v Stonyhurst - Stonyhurst 93/7 from 25, AKS 94/1 from 21.

AKS U12’s won by 9 wickets. Xavier led the charge with both bat and ball, scoring an unbeaten 30 and then retired. He also picked up 2 wickets and 4 maiden overs, conceding just 3 runs. Jacob supported Xavier with a 50 partnership and scoring 17 runs. Excellent energy in the field kept the opposition’s score low as did a great team effort with the ball as the overs were shared around 8 players in total.  Mr Walmsley
