AKS and Just Good Friends PUBLISHED 30 September 2024 AKS is immensely proud to work with Just Good Friends, a local charity that combats loneliness and isolation in the community. It has just celebrated its 12th anniversary, and one wonders how many members they have helped over these years. Students have worked to develop a national award-winning Games Night as part of a Tycoons social enterprise. The student led group Bring Me Sunshine continues to entertain fancy high teas and games afternoons. Potential medical students have worked with JGF on a dementia project and gained valuable experience before attending interviews or indeed their medical course at university. This year, two Year 12 students, Connie and Charlotte are working on an ambitious project. Both are keen to follow a digital marketing or TV production career and so the chance to gain real-world work experience is a superb opportunity. The project is to aim for a Christmas number one single, yes, you may have to read that again, but it is a typical example of JGF and their outlook. Written by entertainer Johnny Knoxx, this single focusses on the problems of loneliness and how kind friends and a bit of company can help, especially at Christmas. I confess to being biased but it is a catchy tune and members of JGF were in fine in form and even finer Christmas attire when we filmed the video for the single. So, watch this space initial posts on TikTok and Instagram have been very favourable. If you have a bit of time to like or follow this would be appreciated by all involved.
