The results of the annual Sociology Essay Writing Competition have been announced, with Lytham St Annes High School student Daisy securing the top prize for her insightful and thought-provoking response to the question, “Do schools successfully prepare young people for life in the real world?” The competition, which aims to engage students in critical sociological discussions, attracted a wide range of entries from talented young writers.
Daisy’s winning essay stood out for its balanced analysis, assured writing style, and its exploration of how modern education systems both empower and, at times, fall short in preparing students for life beyond the classroom.
“I was so impressed with the quality of essays submitted this year,” commented Mr Maund, Head of Sociology. “It was a pleasure to read such a broad and diverse range of responses from a variety of schools in the Fylde area. The quality was so great we expanded the list of Highly Commended and Commended recipients to better showcase individual student talent.”
