Longest Day Walk: our biggest yet to raise funds for Village Aid, Tanzania

PUBLISHED 21 June 2024

Our annual 'Longest Day Walk' takes place each June in association with Blackpool Rotary to raise much appreciated funds for our legacy international charity partner, Village Aid Tanzania.

This year's event was held on Friday 21st June and was our biggest turnout yet, with students, families, teachers and operational staff from across Nursery, Prep, Senior and Sixth Form coming together to support this fantastic cause raising well over a thousand pounds.

The walk mirrors the daily commute faced many school children in Tanzania who walk miles to school on empty stomachs. Starting at 5am for walkers and 6am for runners, our AKS community completed the 10k from the windmill in Lytham to the top of St Anne's beach and back to school. Their symbolic walk was followed by breakfast provided by our catering team.

There were however, a few additional suprises for Tom H from Year 7, with his family suprising the birthday boy with cake to top off the occasion!

Many thanks to everyone who took part, to Nikki for driving the mini-bus, with bags and water and to Mrs Hamilton and Mrs Grant from AKS Action who organise the event.
