Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World - A Review by the Year 7 Drama Scholar (Sam B, Amelie C, Henry C, Freya H, Lila N)

On Friday 10th December students from Years 7 – 11 headed to the Liverpool Playhouse to see a new piece of musical theatre called, Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World.

As year 7’s this was our first drama school trip and it was an incredible experience. We loved the musical itself and the opportunity to be around like-minded people who enjoy the same things as us. It was so fun meeting other drama scholars from other year groups.

The musical is inspired by the children's book written by Kate Pankhurst, who is a distant relative of famous suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst. The musical had an inspiring theme, teaching us about incredible women (or fantastically great) and what they are special for, from all different walks of life and time periods. The story follows a young girl who wanted to find her voice and m make great changes to the world around her.

We really enjoyed how the show delivered educational information in a very entraining manner. Using song, dance, and creative costumes almost created a pop concert atmosphere whilst still being in a theatre, making it even more enjoyable.

“I like the emotions of each character and how the actors showed this on stage” Henry C

“I loved the atmosphere in the theatre, everyone was enjoying themselves” Amelie C

“I liked the style of the songs; most were very upbeat and enjoyable. I loved the Mary, Mary & Marie song.” Freya H

“I liked how the musical shared lots of interesting information but remained funny. I also enjoyed socialising with all the other years!” Sam B

“I absolutely loved the characters, the actors were incredible! I also loved the way the props and set added to the story.” Ava H

Overall it was a brilliant play. Everyone made the trip an extremely enjoyable experience. We loved spending time with our friends and meeting new students with shared passions! We want to thank the teachers so much for organising this event, we were truly inspired.
