U15s Football

In their first fixture of the season AKS U15s looked promising with a hard fought win over Liverpool college.

From the kick-off the initial pressure came from Liverpool attacking down the left, however the AKS defense stood strong and denied any attempts on goal. AKS started to gain more possession and started to build in to game, creating shots on goal fro Neythan and Liam up front. AKS kept the ball well and the pressure won them a free-kick, a well struck ball from Liam just pushed wide of the post. Liverpool were not going to lie down however, creating 2 good attempts at goal through quick counter attack, only to be denied by the safe hand of Oliver in goal. AKS though were set to score after a cross from James and a diving head from Sky which was cleared off the line by a Liverpool defender. AKS continued to create opportunities, however a poorly cleared corner allowed Liverpool to score and take the lead in to half time.

In the second half Liverpool make a counter attack to score again to lead 2-0. AKS continued to battle; an opportunity was created through Oliver K down the right wing, crossing the ball to Liam with a great finish in the left corner. With momentum on their side, AKS created another opportunity moments later as Harry hit a free-kick from the half way for Liam to receive in space and score his second of the afternoon. With the score at 2-2 both teams created opportunities, but it was AKS that took the next vital goal. Liverpool cleared the ball which was received by Zach, who pushed the ball forward to James, beating his defender James fed Liam to round off his hat-trick and put AKS ahead for the first time in the game. In the final minute of the game Sky rounded off a fantastic individual performance with a moment of brilliance, as he weaved through the defence to push the ball in to the bottom left corner and to give AKS 2-4 victory.

This was a great start to the season and AKS had many fine performances including Liam, James, Oliver and Sky working tirelessly. Man of the match goes to Harry for his defensive efforts, stopping the Liverpool strike force from settling in to the game and getting shots on target.
