Year 10 Netball team win again

The AKS Year 10 netball team stayed on track to lift the league title with their third win of the season defeating Carr Hill 17 – 4.

With good accurate netball we started the game well and went into an early lead. Good dodging and accurate passing from all the team enabled us to pass the ball down the court easily.  With great shooting from Captain Ellie S and Ruby AKS extended our lead, 5–0.  Carr Hill did enjoy some possession of their own but great defending by Amelia  and Mia W made it difficult for the shooters to get the ball and we won back possession. By half time we had extended our lead to 10–2.

The second half saw us change positions.  This disrupted our patterns of play and led to some very scrappy netball.  We failed to keep possession and so Carr Hill capitalised.  We slowly re-gained our composure and control.  Once again worked the ball into the circle for Ruby W and new shooter Amelia C to convert.  Hannah T, Anna H and Tara W worked hard in the centre of the court in both attack and defence.  At the final whistle the score was a deserved 17-4 win and two more league points.  Amelia  was named player of the match.

The B team took to the court for a friendly match against Carr Hill.  With some new players it took a while for us to gain any pattern to our play, but we did score first to take an early lead.  Great dodging by Grace S and Nyah H saw us work the ball into the circle and Charlotte A and Amy M moved well in the circle to create shooting opportunities.  Good defending at the other end from newcomers Jade B and Sydney G made scoring difficult for Carr Hill.  At the break we were 4–1 ahead.  After the break Carr Hill started to play more accurate netball and shoot more effectively; drawing level 4 – 4.  We then got  ahead again with good shooting but once again Carr Hill pegged us back and at the final whistle the score was 7 – 9. Nyah H was player of the match for her excellent dodging.

The Year 11 team started slowly and Carr Hill took an early lead.  We slowly started to play good netball and got back on level terms.  The scoring then went goal for goal but at the final whsitle Carr Hill had edged ahead into a two goal lead to take the points.
