AKS U13 Boys Hockey enjoy superb win at Bolton

Boys hockey at AKS continues to thrive and the U13 team enjoyed a superb win on the road with a 4 – 2 victory over Bolton School.

Over the past few months the boys have been gathering plenty of momentum through friendly fixtures and dedicated training sessions and their hard work certainly paid off with a performance they can all take great satisfaction from.

From the very first whistle AKS pressed the opposition, moving the ball with a confidence that belied their relative inexperience and pressing Bolton whenever they had the ball. Playing on half a pitch meant that space was at a premium but, despite this, AKS managed to create several great opportunities to put themselves on the front foot but failed to capitalise with a goal. That lack of accuracy in front of goal threatened to be their undoing as, with a mistake at the back, Bolton got in behind our defence and scored the opening goal. Their lead was short lived however, as AKS refused to let negativity set in and went up the other end to score a quick reply through the industrious Toby, winning and scoring a penalty flick.

Shortly after this the score became 2-1 to AKS with a superb strike from captain James who sent a thunderous shot through the keepers grasps and into the back of the net. Another lapse in concentration allowed Bolton to level things mid-way the 2nd half but then two well taken goals by Toby, who claimed his first hat trick meant the score line finished a very well deserved 4-2 to AKS.

Notable performances from Hugo and Oliver at the back and the goals scorers James and Toby, as well as Joshua on the right side of the midfield.

This was, however, a complete team performance with every single one of the boys contributing positively to this win. They should be very proud of themselves and excited by their development so far.
