AKS U13 girls’ athletics team are celebrating finishing 3rd in regional round of the English Schools Cup competition after some superb performances both on the track and in the field with one school record equalling run and numerous personal best performances.
Talented athlete Maddie again performed superbly on the track to equal the school 1500m record with a time of 5m19s to score 22 points and with a long jump of 3.88m earning 14 points she was the AKS top performer with 36 points.
Not far behind with 34 points was Olivia who produced two fantastic performances after a great 300m run of 48.1s and Javelin throw of 16.44m. Beth was AKS third best performer scoring 29 points for the team with a 100m time of 14.1s and a personal best throw of 17.45m in the Javelin.
There were a host of personal best performances on the track during the competition with Maddy improving her 100m PB to 15.1s to secure 11 team points, Charlotte lowering her 800m best to 2m55s and Zara running 35.0s in the 200m.
In the field Anna threw a personal best 17.51m in the discus to add 16points to the team total while Zara made it a double best with a jump of 1.11m in the high jump.
The school amassed a total of 278points to improve on their Round 1 score and secure 3rd spot in the North West Regional Final.
