Match Reports Football - AKS vs Altrincham Grammar School

AKS Football Season Underway!

The AKS football season got underway this weekend with teams across all age groups playing vs Altrincham Grammar School.

Our U12A’s gave a great account of themselves once again despite losing to Altrincham. Mr Collings side pressed tenaciously and were excellent in regaining possession back throughout the match. A close first half with Altrincham gaining the upper hand in the second half. Aydin scoring the only goal of the game for AKS, cooling slotting the ball past the keeper from a corner.

MOM: Aydin

Coach: Mr Collings

Score: AKS 1 v 5 Altrincham

Our U12B’s played extremely well in the sides first competitive match of the season. With many of the players playing in new positions and for some their first competitive school fixture, all boys did superbly well.

Many positives across the whole side with Jake and Will penetrating the opposition defence on numerous occasions. Even after conceding a goal the boys battled back and a powerful shot by Will from just inside the box levelled matters mid-way through first half. A further goal from Will in the second half gave the side was reward for a battling performance against the wind and the opposition.

MOM: Will

Coach: Mr Walmsley

Score: AKS 2 v 7 Altrincham

The U13’s faced their first away trip of the season, and after a positive week of training the boys were in great spirit heading into this fixture. With conditions under foot tricky for both sides Altrincham were too strong in the first half, capitalising on AKS mistakes.

After the break with a little more confidence, the boys re-grouped and looked to cause Altrincham a few more problems, with a few chances spurned AKS were unable to find a goal.

MOM: Sam Li

Coach: Mr Matthews

Score: Altrincham 7 v 0 AKS

The U14’s came close to winning their first game of the season and but for some missed chances were unlucky against a very strong Altrincham side already well into their football season. The ever impressive Tom and Harvey driving the side forward as they looked to win the game.

The ever impressive George made several fine saves in goal along with a strong defence making the hosts have to work hard for their victory. The team are a shining example of what being part of a team means at AKS, in an act of solidarity they stick together when they need it the most. Massive credit to all the boys, all the PE staff were proud of you today.

MOM: George

Coach: Mr Humphries & Mr Castellas

Score: Altrincham 2 v 1 AKS

The U15’s had a tough game this morning narrowly losing to Altrincham. With a side depleted by injuries, AKS worked tirelessly and competed well across the pitch making the visitors work hard for their win. The ever impressive Yash was once again stand out performer and smashed home the sides penalty to bring the sides level at half time.

In the second half AKS caused the visitors numerous problems all over the pitch, creating many chances, Zack might have given his side the lead but saw his shot go agonisingly wide of the goal. Against the run of play and with AKS pressing the visitors scored 2 late goals to seal the victory, unfortunately for the impressive defensive performance from the team and Christian in goal.

MOM: Yash

Coach: Mr Holmes

Score: AKS 1 v 3 Altrincham

The Senior football team (U18) had a great start to their football season unfortunate to lose 3.2 to well organised Altrincham side.

With the AKS team slow to start 2 quick fire goals, one an own goal, seemed to spark the side into life. Against the wind, the side dug deep and with great resilience and determination started to dominate the play, Tristan working tirelessly upfront as the lone striker. Fraser hit the bar before a delightful goal from Ben brought the side in 2.1 down at half time.

The second half was once again a tail of missed opportunities and a break away goal from the hosts mid-way through the half to make it 3.1. Despite this AKS never gave up and the organisation and determination all over the pitch got its rewards when Fraser struck a fine 20yd strike past the keeper. With further chances created and missed, Altrincham held on to the narrowest of victories.

Superb performance from all the squad who contributed massively to the performance overall.

MOM: Morgan / Chris / Roan – for a superb defensive partnership at the heart of the AKS defence.

Coach: Mr Moretti

Score: Altrincham 3 v 2 AKS
