Year 8 Olivia and Maddie break school athletics records as team finish second in Fylde Coast Championships
The AKS athletics season finished in style with two more school records broken and many more personal best performances as the Year 8 team finish in second place
and the Year 9 team 5th in the Fylde & Wyre Girls Athletics Championships held at Stanley Park.
Once again it was talented Year 8 athletes Maddie and Olivia who smashed the school records. Maddie knocked over 6 seconds off her personal best in the U14 1500m
to break the school record that she herself set at the start of the term with a superb time of 5m12.8s. Olivia also beat her own record by running 47.3 seconds in
the U14 300m and event she is growing into having never competed at the distance before this season.
There were great performances from Poppy in the U15 1500m where she was crowned Fylde & Wyre Champion with a seasons best run of 5m44.5s and Beth
in the U14 Javelin who was U14 Javelin Champion with a personal best throw of 21.63m.
Prisha performed superbly in the sprints recording a personal best of 29.4s in the 200m for 3rd place and scored more team points with a third place finish in
the 100m with another excellent time of 14.1s. Lucy's long jump of 4.01m also secured 3rd spot in the U14 Long Jump whilst Patsy threw 17.75m in the
U14 Discus for 3rd spot closely followed by Anna in 4th with a throw of 15.90m.
Maddie ran superbly in the U14 300m to record a time of 52.4s in her first attempt at the distance to finish 4th and Liberty gained valuable team points finishing
4th in the gruelling U15 1500m. Amelie ran a PB in the U14 800m lowering her best for the third time this season to 2m51.1s. In the U15 800m there was also
a huge personal best for Freya who ran under the magic 3 minutes for the first time knocking 20seconds off her previous best with a time of 2m55.3s.
Ziv’s high jump of 1.21m secured 6th spot as did Eleanor’s 15.25m in the U15Javelin whilst Scarlet competing for the school for the first time secured points
coming 8th in the U15 high jump with a leap of 1.15m.
Overall the Year 8 team finished second out of 10 schools with the U15 team 5th out of 10 schools and it was a superb day of effort and performances from all the girls
to finish a very busy athletics season at AKS.
