Visit for Youth Health Leaders
On Friday 10th November the Youth Health Leaders visited Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. The first part of the day consisted of meeting various health organisations and obtaining their contact details so that we may invite them to our school in future to raise awareness for certain aspects of general health. Following this, we split up into groups and planned how we would achieve our targets over the next few months and how we could integrate some of these initiatives into existing projects - such as Round Square; we finally presented our ideas to other schools.
We spent the rest of the day at the Simulations and Skills Department, where we spoke to doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and training staff. We observed how doctors would diagnose patients, how they would handle emergency situations such as cardiac arrest and how they would carry out an interview for a NHS healthcare position. Overall the day was very enjoyable and enlightening. We are looking forward to starting our new healthcare awareness programs for this half-term.
