Triathlon & Fundraising Success for Freddie!
Freddie from Year 4 took part in the 11th annual St Annes Triathlon on Sunday 19th May. As well as seeking to challenge himself, he also raised over £220 in sponsorship for Guide Dogs for the Blind, this year’s charity in AKS Junior School. This is a fantastic achievement and a great example of how one of our core characteristics, ‘Success and Value’ can lead to positive impact on the lives of others. Freddie covered the following distances: 150m swim, 4k bike, 1.2k run.
Here’s what he had to say about the experience:
What was the toughest bit?
The swim! I went out too fast on the first two lengths. I need to pace myself better next time; also running from the swim to the transition point with no shoes on! The transitions are hard as you have a lot to think about and you are trying to get ready as fast as you can for the next part of the race.
What was the best bit?
Seeing my friends and family at the finishing line.
What are you going to do next?
The same again next year!
What did you say when you finished?
Not much, as I was out of breath!
Well done Freddie!
