Family, friends and former colleagues from King Edward VII School gathered at St. Annes Baptist Church on February 8th for a service of thanksgiving and celebration for the life of Eric Lockton who has died aged 84.
Eric’s sons Andrew and Stuart and his daughter Judy spoke about their father’s life and his granddaughters Emma and Sue reflected on his role as a granddad and friend.
At King Edward’s in the 1980s and 90s Eric was a committed member of the Mathematics department under the leadership of Barry Brelsford, liked and respected both by staff and by students for his calm methodical teaching and thoughtful manner.
Eric and his wife Shirley were keen churchgoers and in retirement Eric used his skills with figures in book-keeping work for several local voluntary organisations, providing strong support in the Lytham St. Anne’s Music Circle.
Donations in Eric’s memory are welcomed for Trinity Hospice, Blackpool or the Missionary Aviation Fellowship, directly or via the funeral directors Roland Whitehead and daughter.
