In memory...

This week we were saddened to hear of the loss of an ex-colleague, catering manager Paul Gulwell. Paul worked at Arnold, KEQMS and AKS for a total of 16 years, leaving in 2012. He’s best remembered by his colleagues and school community as being instrumental in turning what was a traditional school canteen into a restaurant-style experience and suggesting ideas ahead of his time, such as serving wine and canapés to parents at events. In doing so, he left a lasting legacy that our staff, students and school community continue to enjoy today.

Those who knew Paul remember his sense of fun, his warmth and friendliness and his commitment to producing great food. He devised themed lunches to launch new dishes, with staff dressing accordingly and in turn, bringing smlies to the faces of all those who came into the dining room.  Other highlights from his time flying a pirate flag from the school flagpole and bringing a life-sized model of Father Christmas into the dining room at Christmas time .

Paul’s funeral will take place on Thursday 7th February at St Michael's Church in Kirkham at 14.30, followed by the cremation at Lytham Crematorium at 15.30.
