Heart Start

Year 9 completed the Heart start programme as part of their PSHE lessons.  This is an accredited course run by the British Heart Foundation and North West Ambulance Service.  All pupils are taught CPR and what to do in an emergency.  Since being part of the programme AKS have recognised the importance of teaching CPR and our aim is that no pupil will leave AKS without learning this life saving skill.

To date over a 1000 pupils and members of school community have been taught CPR. We have also recognised the importance of defibrillators and have four in different location on the school site.

All students from Years 7 to11 undertake a First Aid module in PSHE,.  This not only provides them with the knowledge, but also gives them confidence to put it into practice, as and when it is needed.
