A new name to mark the new term at AKS Nursery and Preparatory School
Press Release 4th September, 2019
AKS Nursery and Preparatory School marked the new school year with its change of name, from the former ‘Junior School’ to now being known as ‘AKS Nursery and Preparatory School’. The Head, Mrs Ilhan, now in her second year at the school explained, “I am so proud of all the accomplishments that the children have attained this year. The whole school defines itself through its mission statement and unique characteristics of ‘Academic Ambition’, ‘Individual Pathways’ and ‘Success and Value’. With the change of name, the Preparatory School has now defined its mission more distinctly. We are building foundations for life and preparing the children to transition into the Senior School effortlessly.”
AKS Nursery and Preparatory School which takes children from the age of two years plays an important role in building the foundations for exceptional academic outcomes. By Year 6, 60% of the students are working beyond age-related expectations in their reading and mathematics, establishing a trajectory which continues into the Senior School. This year, 51% of GCSE exams taken at AKS were awarded grades 9-7, equivalent to A*/A in the old system and, over the past five years, 64% of all A-level grades were A*, A or B.
Mrs Ilhan continued, “We achieve these results through an individualised approach to learning and by ensuring that each child is challenged in their lessons. We are committed to improving the performance of all children, whatever their starting point and from September 2019 will have a dedicated Raising Attainment Teacher to support this. Children need to foster their own self-belief, a confidence to tackle anything that comes their way and the resilience to do so. When they believe in themselves, they can achieve anything”.
AKS’ Whole School Open Day takes place on 12th October. You can register now online, or contact the school directly to arrange a visit: firstname.lastname@example.org or 01253 784100.
