Introducing the 'Reflection Section'
Mr Hayden (Assistant Head, Pastoral)
As a result of the changes that we have had to introduce, this year pupils are spending an increased amount of time with their Form Tutors in Senior School, in place of our regular assemblies.
I believe this gives us an opportunity to share and celebrate the wide range of cultural, intellectual, spiritual and social knowledge and expertise in our community.
What I hope to establish is a weekly "Reflection Section" - a period of time every Friday where we learn from someone in our community. It could be a member of staff, a student, a parent or an alumni.
The topic matter of the Reflection Section is totally open and is reliant on your interests, passion and expertise. The intention is that this should be something from outside the curriculum. We're not looking to replicate something from in lessons, we're looking to explore the interesting, quirky, and fascinating.
You may think our community should learn about:
- A particular historical figure that they may never have heard of;
- A particular artist, author, composer or work of art that has had an impact on you;
- A piece of social or cultural history;
- A place, an object or an experience that you've had that you'd like to share.
