International Women's Day

“Challenging attitudes, reaching potential” - AKS & AKS Young Soroptimists

We're looking forward to welcoming the schools participating in our International Women's Day Conference today. It's going to bring to life the spirit of the initiative, as it's all about #BalanceforBetter, with external speakers, insight and discussions which will engage both boys and girls.

We're looking forward to hearing from Rosie Drummer, a qualified architect and the first female helicopter pilot in the British Army she's now carved out a new career as one of the UK's best cake designers. We're also delighted to welcome Christopher Green (OBE) who's the Executive Director of the White Ribbon Campaign (UK) and recipient of the 'Ultimate Man of the Year' award from Cosmopolitan magazine in 2007. More latterly he was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the New Year Honours list for services to equality.

We'll also be encouraging discussion, debate and an exploration of the themes raised by Rosie and Christopher in the discussion groups following the sessions.

Many thanks to the Fylde Soroptimists for working in partnership with us to support local students across the community.
