‘7 Billion Ideas’ final at IBM headquarters
6th March, 2019
On Wednesday 6th March, three AKS Year 6 students travelled to the ‘7 Billion Ideas’ final at IBM headquarters in Warwick. Charlie had created the N Watch, a smart watch that would administer a lifesaving dose of adrenaline. The design will give a sense of independence and the ability to be in charge of one’s own safety for those who are at risk of allergic reactions. Charlie presented alongside Archie and Owen to explain their market research and proposals for selling the product to boys, girls, women and men.
The AKS team’s stall was so impressive that children from other schools came over to see it. They had a rolling PowerPoint with their company slogan on and an 8 foot poster. Judges from United Learning and IBM asked our team a selection of challenging questions, which they answered with confidence - demonstrating excellent teamwork.
Although they didn’t win, they’ve decided to take the idea further by designing a prototype and sending their idea to local industries. Mr Rice and Mrs Ilhan were very proud to be supporting the children throughout the day and treated them to a Nandos on the return journey home.
We look forward to hearing more about how the N Watch develops – well done and good luck with taking your idea further boys!
