Evie crowned National Archery Champion
The summer has been a very busy and successful time for AKS pupil Evie F who is proving herself to be one of the top junior archers in the country with a number of victories in both County and national competitions.
In 2021 following lockdown, the English archery competition calendar began in May with a few socially distanced events under the guidance of Sport England/Archery GB.
Evie made a good start to her season finishing with a first and 2 second places at clout competitions in Cumbria, Derbyshire and Cheshire and, in doing so, set 4 new Lancashire junior ladies U16 records.
July saw Evie compete in seven events over 4 weekends with the highlight being the AGB Junior National Outdoor Target Championships at Lilleshall, Shropshire at the beginning of the month. After finishing 3rd in 2019 Evie was determined to gain a rostrum place again in 2021 and she didn’t disappoint by shooting superbly to finish on top of the podium and be crowned 2021 National U16 Junior Ladies Barebow Champion, setting new Lancashire and Northern Counties Archery Society junior records in the process!
Following her national win Evie enjoyed even more success and broke yet more County and National records in Junior Barebow competitions all over the North of England to complete an impressive summer and she has now been invited to compete in the UK Junior Masters competition in Cheltenham, an event for junior archers that have achieved AGB Junior Master Bowman status. The highest possible junior classification achievable.
With archery being an Olympic sport Evie has her sights firmly set on becoming an Olympian in the years ahead and with the success she is enjoying at the moment she is definitely one to watch!
