Chinese New Year Pre-Schooler Outreach Programme

ALL WELCOME to our CHINESE NEW YEAR CRAFT WORKSHOPS run by our Prep School art teacher, Mrs Hine.

These sessions follow the success of our previous mini-series: 'Move With Moretti', 'Christmas sing-a-long' and 'Miss Allen Reads'. If you missed them, catch up on our dedicated Pre-Schooler Outreach YouTube channel.

All sessions start at 9.30am on Facebook and 9.45am on YouTube. Further information, including materials required, are as follows:

SESSION 1 - 29th January: Dragon-Making

In Chinese culture, symbol of wisdom, power, and luck in Chinese culture. 

You will need: 
1) 11 or 12 cupcake cases 
2) A3 piece of paper 
3) Glue stick 
4) Coloured paper for head 
5) Scissors 
6) White paper for eyes 
7) Black pen

Supplementary dragon-making instructions.

SESSION 2 - 5th February: Lantern

In Chinese culture, lanterns symbolise people letting go of the past year and welcoming the new year with good fortune. 

You will need:
1) A cardboard (kitchen-roll) tube
2) 2 pieces of thin card
3) Glue Stick
4) Scissors
5) A ruler
6) Pencil
7) Tin foil to decorate

Supplementary lantern-making instructions.

SESSION 23 - 12th February: Spring Blossom Collages

Cherry blossoms are a symbolic flower of the spring, a time of renewal, and the fleeting nature of life.

You will need:
1) Black paper
2) Glue stick
3) Scissors
4) A3 piece of white paper
5) Silver paper or tin foil
6) Red and white paint
