On Saturday, all of our hardball cricketers were out in the sunshine playing internal fixtures. Loads of runs and wickets and enjoyment had by all!

U13 Boys Lancashire Cup

U13 St Augustine’s 103ao v AKS 67ao

A disappointing result for the team. We will work on playing more positive cricket at training, aiming to take smart risks to score and put pressure back on the opposition.

U14 Boys Lancashire Cup victory

U14 beat Scarisbrook Hall by 9 wickets.

Scarisbrick Hall scored 52 in 15 overs thanks to some tight bowling, particularly from Archie J and Ollie C.

AKS responded by knocking off the 52 in ten overs - Fin K and Freddie B both retiring on 25.

National T20 Senior Cricket

Buoyed by the upturn in weather conditions, AKS Senior Cricketers put in some strong performances whilst hosting the National T20 Cricket Tournament on April 24th.

AKS drew to play Rossall and were sent in to bat in difficult conditions. Our batters battled hard and scrapped our way to 91-6 off our 20 overs, with Felix T batting the majority of the innings for a half century. Our bowling and fielding effort lacked the consistency that was required and Rossall were able to overhaul our target comfortably.

In the 3rd place playoff against Kirkham GS, our team were determined to redress their performance from the first match and get back to playing our brand of cricket. This started with a spirited bowling and fielding performance, with clear concentration and desperation in the field. Our bowlers were much more skillful and consistent, with Toby C leading the bowlers with a brilliant 5 wicket haul. A special mention also to youngsters Michael R (Year 10) and Archie J (Year 9), who both bowled excellent spin through the middle overs, conceding very few runs and being extremely disciplined in their approach. Our run chase got off to a shaky start, losing some vital wickets. However, our skipper Alex U steadied the ship and saw us home with a massive 6.

AKS hosted another fantastic event and our senior team can take away some vital lessons and some excellent performances moving forward.

U15 Girls

U15 Girls played in the National Cup first round against Sedbergh. Though outclassed by a side featuring many county representatives, our girls represented the school with aplomb. Highlights included Amelie C hitting a big four in her first game and Amelia H showing promise as an excellent wicket-keeper.
