Farewell:

It is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to Year 13 cricketers Yash and Dan. Brilliant players and leaders, who said goodbye in style with half centuries at our Senior Festival. We wish them well in all they do and look forward to welcoming them back as OAKS in the future.

Girls U15

U15 girls lost by 60 runs to Rossall. Overall, Rossall adapted their game to an indoor match far better. AKS bowled and fielded well, although too many balls were bowled with width allowing Rossall to score maximum runs.

In contrast, Rossall bowled much straighter and defended the boundaries much better. AKS had to work much harder to score boundaries. However, Rossall were fielding a much older team and AKS kept fighting to the end. Despite the result, some excellent individual performances.

U15 AKS 7/122 (Mitch F 32, Harry J 33no) def Irish tourists Lisneal College 5/113 (Harry J 2/7 off 3, William W 1/6 off 3)

U13

AKS U13.    118/5

SCH U13.    40 All out

AKS were never at threat and despite a good bowling display from SCH, AKS reached 50 from 8 overs with the loss of Kiernan for 4.

Bourne & Keskin put on a good partnership with both going for 17 & 22 respectively, skipper Archie J knocked a quick-fire 31 to get the job done.  All boys bowled at least 1 over with Will G having 4.

U15

AKS u15 beat Scarisbrook U15 by 79 runs.

Batting first, AKS thumped their way to 130 off 20 on a very very wet and low bouncing wicket. Conditions were tough in terms of batting, bowling, and fielding and both teams did well to make the match a good contest. Moving wasn’t the issue - stopping was! Harry and Alfie both hit 30 and retired with Will and Harley both contributing with high 20’s.

In reply, Scarisbrook managed 51 / 10. AKS bowlers were unplayable at times with a strong wind and soft pitch testing the bowlers ability to get their line and length right. Jackson, Wyles were the pick, but Angus, Green and Levers all contributed.

Most pleasing this season has been their development as a group of lads. There’s a lot of work to do, but in terms of how they treat each other and work together as a team has been our performance goal and I’m happy with their progress. Alfie has captained well and all the lads deserve a lot of credit for mucking in and accepting the constant changing batting order and bowling workload. They’ve accepted that everyone needs to feel like they’re contributing regularly to keep them part of the team and maintain motivation to keep playing cricket moving forward.

U12

AKS U12 lost by 7 wickets. AKS went in to bat first on a very soggy wicket and a swirling wind. 4 quick wickets were lost due to one of these two factors, with batters struggling to judge the movement being created by the wind. Lucas and Frank came in to steady the ship with Lucas both batting beautifully to be retired on 25. 124 on the board was a decent effort in the end but the wind was just as big a factor in the bowling with plenty of extras being delivered by both sides. The game came down to the last two deliveries with Scarisbrick chasing the total down with a ball to spare in the innings.

Excellent effort from both sides. MOM Lucas, superb innings, excellent bowling, and even better captaincy.
